Sara Lee recalls 27 brands of bread

Sara Lee Food & Beverage July 26 announced a recall of certain types of bread products on the FDA web site due to possible presence of small pieces of metal in the products.

 

The recall, voluntary and precautionary, affects selected whole wheat bread products produced at the company's Meridian, Miss. bakery that are sold at grocery retailers in Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana and Florida.

 

The affected products come with a bag on the front of which there is a stamp of "Best if purchased by" between the dates of July 25, 2007 and August 7, 2007 and the code "222".

According to the recall announcement, only products with the code "222" on the packaging are included in the recall.   The products are produced in the company's Meridian, Mississippi bakery.   The recall does not affect any other Sara Lee bread brand.

 

Consumers should not consume any affected bread product and should return the product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund, the company advised.   Consumers can call Sara Lee's toll free consumer line at 800 683-3466 if they have any questions or concerns.
