WEDNESDAY AUGUST 6, 2008 (foodconsumer.org) -- The man who
is accused of decapitating and cannibalizing another passenger on board a
Greyhound bus pleaded to the judge in a Canadian courtroom on Tuesday, "Please
kill me".
This is only words from Vince Weiguang Li, who immigrated to
Canada from China in 2004 after getting arrested for alleged killing of a
22-year man named Tim McLean on a Greyhound bus on the way from Edmonton,
Alberta to Winnipeg, Manitoba last Wednesday night.
Li refused to answer questions from anyone including a
court-appointed attorney.
Prosecutors
suggested that he should undergo a psychiatric evaluation, but the judge wanted
to give him a chance to talk to an attorney first.
Witnesses said Li, 40, acted like a robot emotionlessly stabbing
McLean about 40 or 50 times nonstop and cut off McLean's head and other parts
of his body. Fellow passengers fled the bus, but it did not seem he had any
intention to hurt anyone else.
He was locked in the bus by three men blocking his way out
of the bus.
He carried the severed head
back and forth on the bus taunting officers before his arrest.
Prosecutors said the alleged killer had a plastic bad packed
with his victim's ear, nose, and part of a mouth in his pocket when police
arrested him.
It is unknown why Li killed the young man. They apparently
did not know each other and McLean did not provoke him.
Media reports said Li might have emotional or
psychological problems. People who know him could never believe he would kill
anyone because he acted always like a good man.
He is charged with second degree murder, which could land
him up to 20 years in jail. Canada does not have death penalty.
