Montefiore
Hospital in
New York City on Oct. 17, ABC News reported Dec 27. The hospital blamed the tragedy on an unforeseeable reaction to a routine anesthesia agent.
Her mother Janet Joseph seemed eager to pull off the life support to let Javona die while her father Leonard Peters wanted her on life support.
The parents are unmarried and live separately.
News media talks a lot about whether Javona's life should be ended or who should have a final say to determine the fate of this poor girl. But not much was mentioned about the girl’s condition that led to the surgery or whether the girl could have avoided the surgery in the first place.
According to the story, the surgery is routine, meaning that the surgery itself should not be risky. It is unknown the condition for which the surgery was performed was serious enough to justify the surgery.
