My case with Sprint PCS considered solved

Ok, I considered my case solved.   I called Sprint PCS this morning asking them why I got the notice saying I owned them $161.   They said this amount is the early termination fee because I cancelled my account while I was in a contract.

The so-called contract came without me knowing it.   On July 5, 2007, I got a letter from Sprint PCS telling me that I entered a 2-year contract. I called them immediately and told them under no circumstances did I ask for any contract.   I would be stupid to ask for any contract.   In the end, I was told I was off the hook.

But when I called Sprint PCS on Dec. 21, 2007 to cancel my account mainly because I do not use cell phone often and try to save a couple of bucks.   Three reps dealt with me all saying that I will have to pay an early termination fee for the contract.   I told them again there had been no contract I had ever entered except for the first year contract, which was a thing four years ago. After 30 minutes and three reps, I was told my account was canceled.

I got a collection alert yesterday Feb 12, 2008 saying I owned Sprint PCS $161. Today I called them and they told me that is the early termination fee.   I told the rep I was not in any contract.   She is kind enough to correct this and let me pay $11.47 taxes or whatever. I asked her if there will be any fee I need to pay after this $11.47. She answered "no" because your account was closed.

I hope my account was indeed closed forever.   All this wasted me lots of time and caused lots of stress in me.
