Berries and pomegranate are good for men

MONDAY FEB 18, 2008 (foodconsumer.org) -- Berries and pomegranate may serve better as valentine's gifts for lovers than chocolate as studies found these foods can boost heart health and possibly men's performance in the bedroom.

One study by researchers from Finland showed consuming a mixture of bilberries, lingon berries, black currants, and strawberries could lower systolic blood pressure by 7.3 mmHg while it boosted good cholesterol by more than 5 percent.

Early studies have already found benefits of berries such as lowering LDL cholesterol and protecting against cancer and neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer's disease, according to nutraingredients.com

The study was published in this month's American Journal of Clinical Nutrition

Another study led by Gaffari Turk from Firat University in Turkey and published in the journal Clinical Nutrition found that rats that regularly consumed pomegranate juice enhanced the quality of mobility of their sperm.

Pomegranate is high in antioxidants and studies showed it may help protect against prostate cancer, Alzheimer's and help slow cartilage loss in arthritis patients.

Still another study of 53 male adults published in the International Journal of Impotence Research showed that 47 percent of subjects reported erection improvement after they used pomegranate juice compared to 32 percent in the control group.

The study was conducted by The Male Clinic, Beverly Hills, and University of California, Los Angeles.

There are quite a few foods men can eat to enhance their performance in the bedroom. This includes garlic, strawberries, seafood, peanuts or arginine supplements/vitamin C, royal jelly and ginseng to name a few.
