Friday Sep 26, 2008 (foodconsumer.org) -- A new poll
found women in the US now have more influence in family decision making than
their counterparts in the 50s or 60s, Washington Post reports.
Poll results show that women seem to have acquired equal
control of the household television, with 27 percent saying the wife has the
final say which channel to turn to, 26 percent saying the husband got the
control and 25 percent saying the wife and husband shared the remote.
The poll surveyed 1,260 people who were married or living
together as a couple.
It was found that
of 43 percent of couples, women had more power over four categories, decision
making in finance, weekend activities, television use and big-ticket purchases.
