SATURDAY AUGUST 2, 2008 (foodconsumer.org) -- According to the Environmental Working Group, many fruit and
vegetables contain a variety of pesticides and for those fruit and vegetables,
consumers would be better off eating organic types.
For instance, apples and potatoes often
contain a wide spectrum of pesticides.
But some fruit and vegetables contain far much less of
pesticides. The 12 safest conventional fruits and vegetables include broccoli, eggplant,
cabbage, banana, kiwi, asparagus, sweet peas (frozen), mango, pineapple, sweet
corn (frozen) avocado and onion.
The worse 12 conventional fruits and vegetables you can eat are
peaches, apples, sweet bell peppers, celery, nectarines,
strawberries,
cherries,
lettuce, grapes-imported, pears, spinach, and potatoes.
