SATURDAY JAN 5, 2008 (Foodconsumer.org) -- It is pitiful so many people suffer all types of diseases and so many people die prematurely each year.  In the United States, an individual has to spend an average of nearly $7,000 on health insurance each year, the highest in the world.  By 2015, one in every five dollars in this country will be used for health care.  This is in no way a small number!

However, this giant expenditure does not earn a good return in terms of the quality of health care and the health status of the American people.  Among more than 30 developed countries, the U.S. ranked at 11th.   Cancer and heart disease are still the biggest killers in the country and doctors could not do much stop the killers.

Even worse, big health bills in many cases can only result in needless health damage and even deaths.  In the US, doctors are the third largest killer and drugs are the fourth. Both combined are the biggest killer in this country.  Some readers may not know these figures and that is probably because they only read the mainstream news media.

One study published recently in the New England Journal of Medicine found doctors and hospitals do not respond quickly enough to needs of patients with sudden cardiac arrest as the guidelines recommend, resulting in an estimated 25,000 needless deaths each year!    Another study reported recently found that more than 40 percent doctors have prescribed placeboes that have no known therapeutic effect to their patients while patients pay a high price for the "drug".

In a word, drugs and health care are not the solution for your health.

Luckily, nature provides us enough to live a healthy and happy life.  For example, cancer cure does exist for most patients with cancer and they do not have to die from this scary disease.  Even better, many cases of cancer do not have to develop in the first place if people use a healthy diet and follow a healthy lifestyle.

However, this type of information can not be seen in the mainstream media.   Only those who are willing to keep their eyes wide and open to other opinions may have found these life-saving secrets.   And many cancer patients have recovered while many have succumbed to conventional treatments. And many heart disease patients have stopped or reversed progression of their condition all by simply using adequate food and nutrition while many die in hospitals!

In our view, food is severely underappreciated compared to drugs.   We know it for a fact that people in many cases would not die in next three to five days if they do not take drugs, but they will if they do not use food and water even if they are healthy.   One big mistake for most of us to make is that we often ask what drugs to use to treat what disease, we never ask and doctors could never tell us what to eat to help us recover!

People no matter they have health insurance or not and no matter they are healthy or sick should invest some time and money in food if they care about their health.   Food needs to be prepared right and eaten right for maximal health benefits.   For instance, cooking at high heat can turn natural and health vegetable oil into toxic or detrimental substances that harm our health.  For another example, eating too much meat at a wrong time may increase cancer risk. Nutritionists believe most of diseases can be prevented if people use a healthy diet.  Taste and fullness are not the standards you need to use to decide what and how much you need to eat.
